  • 40% of a cinema's income is made up from refreshments like popcorn, which is why they charge extortionate prices and discourage bringing in food from other retailers. 
  • All of the biggest movie companies like paramount and sony/columbia are owned by conglomerates, massive companies that own numerous smaller companies.
  • The Avengers made over $207 million in the opening weekend, and was shown in 4,349 different cinemas.
  •  In 2012, 43 3D films were releases, and 646 'normal' films. Out of the top 10 3D films, 9 were in the top 20 films of 2012, and Titanic 3D was 26th.
