In Fear 2013
In fear is an independent film that was released on November 15, 2013, directed by Jeremy Loverlings. On the internet I was not able to find much on In Fear but I was able to find out a little bit. I know that the production company is called Big Talk Productions which have done many other numerous films that we have heard of; Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010), Paul (2011), Attack The Block (2011), Sight Seers (2012) and The World's End (2013).
They have been reviewed by a site called Film School Rejects. (http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/reviews/sundance-2013-review-in-fear-rhunt.php) From the name of the site we already know that they movie was not very good to have gotten on this website.
They have used different types of marketing stratergies to get viewers such as having a traier which could be watched on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5ZbJgUOwwU. They also have facebook page but only a couple of hundred people like it: https://www.facebook.com/InFearUK, in addition they aso have interviews with the actors about the film:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_XU1Gtq3VY

'In fear' aims towards 15+ due to the violent content which may limit most of the younger audiences due to genre.
Reviews:
Their are not many reviews for 'in fear' due to the fact that it hasn't been release however we could judge by the ratings in IMDb we could look at this rating to give us a visual idea of what the viewer thinks about the movie. The rating is 5.1/10 from 137 users, this is certain that most of the audiences are not engaged to see the movie from their responses to the trailer from a very low budgeted company.
Distribution

Exhibition
In fear sets out to release the movie locally around cine-world making this in 2D and then the movie will be released through formatted DVD around February to May 2014.
Competition with other films in the same week
The movie 'In fear' will have a very difficult time to compete with other mainstream films being released at the same time such as Hunger games: mocking Jay with big companies promoting through lots of advertisements. This is due to the lack of advertisements and sponsorship they earn from the fact that they are an independent British company not world wide publicized globally. The company would have to compete to get the movie known for the reviews to become more positive whilst gain more financially due to the fact it is produced with a low budget.

What Have We Learned During The Process of Making Our Swede?
Camera Work:
We had to film everything ourselves, which meant we learnt how to use cameras and other pieces of equipment like tripods first hand. Everybody in the group was given the chance to film as well as being involved in the swede.
Editing: Not only did we learn to edit our scenes so they were in the correct order and made sense, we also learnt how to add music and sound effects to certain parts if the swede in order to make the video more effective.
Promoting:
We used social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to promote out swede. From doing this, we were able to see the effects the internet has on who is able to view what, and how the huge increase in social networking has had a massive impact on society and our ability to share things with people from all over the world. Another form of promotion used was the posters our group created.
Prosumer:
I have been a prosumer because i have consumed the film that was chosen by my group, and produced something else based on what i had seen. I then put the swede on the internet which means i gave others the chance to consume it.
Cross Media Convergence:
The posters that were made to promote the swede is an example of cross media convergence. This is because the poster would not exist if our swede had never been made.
Global Audiences: We were able to see that due to the internet, people from all over the world would be able to share and view our video, whereas this would never have been possible a few years ago when the internet was not around or as developed as it currently is.
Synergy: Synergy may not have been apparent in my groups swede as we only really had one song, which was already related to the film we had chosen. However, we did learn about what synergy is and how it can be used. For example, the film Titanic is associated with Celine Dion's song 'My heart will go on'. Even though the song does not include any details about the film Titanic, it was used in the film so it now linked to Titanic frequently. This is an example of synergy as both the film and song promote each other and are mutually beneficial.
What we learnt from making our swede
From my experience making this swede, I have learnt mostly editing skills, before i enrolled on this course my usage was vey limited, honed only to iMovie and was very basic, yet I now feel that (although far from satisfactory) my editing skills have improved significantly and on a more highly rated editing software (Final Cut Pro). I also learnt a bit about filming, mostly through using the higher end equipment such as the microphones, lighting and tripods.
From the promotion I learnt about synergy, cross media convergence, convergent technologies and prosumers, although our group only used cross media convergence in regard to the posters. We tried promoting our swede on various social networking platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter , and this helped me to understand the trouble that free lance film makers would have to face if they wanted to promote their films.
Our swede completed!

NEW THOR MOVIE!
Thor: The Dark World premiered last fortnight on 22 October at Odeon Leciester Square in London. It is the first film in the second wave of the Marvel Universe films, soon to accompanied by Captain America 2, and Avengers 2 and maybe more. The film made $8.2 million on its first day, and has made $109 up to date, making a bigger impact than its predecessor.
The film used all of the standard advertising techniques, such as posters, trailers and the use of social networking as well as riling up the fan base by presenting clips of Loki at Disney's D23 convention, and even building a ride at Disneyland. Ben Child, writing for The Guardian said, "Thanks to Hiddleston and Hemsworth's impressive collective charisma, Thor: The Dark World is far from a franchise killer."

SWEDE PLANNING PRESTENTATION (rough copy- need to be put on a powerpoint)
PRODUCTION:
PLANNING
We choice a film which was Batman: the dark knight.
Before we started recording we listed the main scenes that we wanted to
recreate for our swede, we used and picked out important lines that stood out
to us and that could be used for our swede. We also did a story board in which
we put in chorological order; this made it easier for us to film efficiently as
we knew what scene was to come next.
PROPS

· a hair wig
· a oversized blazer
· batman mask cut-out

FILMING/EDITING
All the scenes planned out in the pre-production were filmed
at suitable locations. Each scene was filmed as many times as we wanted in
order to ensure we got the best quality for each of the scenes, this would be
used to construct the swede. We took all the necessary shots needed from
different angles and directions. We used
final cut-pro to edit our swede.
POST PRODUCTION
We loaded all our recordings onto final cut-pro, we selected
and ordered the filming, and we made sure that all the shots flowed smoothly in
a seamless story. We used trimming for shortening scenes by a few minutes or seconds.
As well as editing the footage, we added music to the background, graphics and incorporated
sounds to make them more dramatic. After
we screened and approved of the editing, we made no further changes and
uploaded it onto YouTube.

My researched Sweded Movie.
Inception, sweded.
This Swede is remarkably good because its uses a wide range of shots to show what is happening in each scene. They follow the dialogue of the original movie, Inception, allowing the audience to understand who plays what character, and what scene of the movie is shown. This swede abides by the 180 degree rule, making the swede seem as if it is an professional low budget movie, although some scenes contradict this statement. The actors in this swede who portray the characters from the original Inception movie do an outstanding job acting in this swede, their tone of voice change depending on what happens in a scene, and on scenes where they have no gravity, it actually seems as if there is no gravity, this differentiates this swede from other swedes due to the lack of amateurism within the cast. This swede only has a slight comical aspect to it, for example using toy weapons to portray the weapons actually used in the original movie, and the role of a female character being given to a male actor. These comical aspects allows the audience to understand that this is a swede almost immediately, not a group of people working hard to recreate the original movie as perfectly as possible.
Although my group are sweding a different movie (The Dark Knight Rises), I think that we can take a lot of good ideas from this swede, it wont be too difficult taking ideas from this swede and applying it to ours due to the fact that both movies and both swedes are action based. I personally think that comical aspects must be added to our swede, because The Dark Knight Rises is already a dark and serious movie, with a slight hint of dark humour, creating a swede for The Dark Knight Rises in a serious manner will only bore the audience and wont engage them into our swede.

So I went on to the Odeon website to check out the 10 highest rate films a the moment, and these were what was on it.
Out of these 9, Filth was the only British made film, and it was still distributed by lion gate, a massive producing company. In class we were talking about what kind of films we watched, and although it was definitely not shocking it was a bit disappointing the amount of films that weren't massive budget hollywood films. I did a little bit of research into the smaller films on the list, and Blue Jasmine, which i thought would have been one of the cheaper films, still had a gigantic budget of $30 000 000. I suppose its just a sad reality that small films from unknown makers will probably never make it on to the big screens, which is why it was surprising to see films like Despicable Me up there, who had a small time distributor when it was originally released.

ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
Ideas and desgins on how to advertise our swede:
- some pictures we could merge together to make a poster or something
PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION, MARKEING, EXHIBITION
Production - The act or process of producing something
- Pre- production
This is the stage in which all the planning for the project takes place. During pre-production, the production is broken down into individual scenes and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, special effects and visual effects are identified. The script, if not already complete, is written at this stage. A detailed schedule is produced and arrangements are made for the necessary elements or people to be available to the film-makers at the appropriate times. - Production
This is the stage at which all the filming is carried out. All scenes planned out in pre-production are filmed at the relevant locations. Each scene is filmed as many times as the director deems fit, to ensure the best quality scenes will be used to construct the film. This is where the strength of the pre-production work is put to the test. Great care must be taken to make sure that all the filming is done correctly and all necessary shots are taken, as it is sometimes difficult or impossible to go back and repeat certain events if the filming is incomplete when it comes to the post-production stage. - Post- production
This is the stage in which the film is assembled by the editor. The first job of the film editor is to build a rough cut taken from sequences (or scenes) based on individual "takes" (shots). The purpose of the rough cut is to select and order the best shots. The next step is to create a fine cut by getting all the shots to flow smoothly in a seamless story. Trimming - the process of shortening scenes by a few minutes, seconds, or even frames - is done during this phase. As well as the editing of footage, all music, graphics, menus etc are added in this stage. After the fine cut has been screened and approved by the director and producer, the picture is "locked," meaning no further changes are made.
Distribution - The act of distributing or spreading or apportioning
A distributor is an individual or
organisation who will represent your film at festivals and markets around the
world and who will attempt to sell it to television (including terrestrial,
cable and satellite), airlines and other companies that show short films. The
major short film distributors in the UK are (Dazzle, Futureshorts, Network
Ireland TV and Shorts International.
Generally an organisation who handles the theatrical release of a film in a particular country as well as the marketing and circulation of films for home viewing. Often feature films have different distributors representing them in different territories and different distributors handling the home-viewing circulation. Independent film distribution in the UK is generally managed by indie distributors such as Metrodome, Optimum Releasing and Momentum
Marketing - advetising your film
You can advertise your film with various methods such as:
- trailers
- billboards
- buses
- adverts on tv
- posters
- news papers
- magazines
- youtube etc
Exhibition - A collection of things (goods or works of art etc.) for public display
THIS WEEKS FILM RELEASES
This week 'The Odeon' homepage advertises various newly released films. Most of the films listed are big hollywood movies and less then half are British made films.his explains why America play a important part in the film industry as they take up half the percentage of the films buisness.
Films such as:
Majority of people in class said they wanted to go watch 'White House Down' as it stared familiar well-known actors like Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx who are very popular people within Hollywood. Action films are proved to be one of the most popular genre of film in all time, hence why it is almost inevitable that most people would want to see a film like 'White House Down'.
3D films play a massive part in the film industry as they can make twice as money compared to a normal film. Nowerdays for ever £5 brought in the film industry £1 is from 3D movies. Movies like these are mainly targeted at young children that need a parent/gardian with them to watch movies meaning that the cinema gets twice the amount of money would get from a bunch of teenagers going to watch a movie. This proves that 3D films have a huge price difference to normal films in order to make up for them not being in cinemas like other regular films. Quite alot of people do not like 3D movies and prefer normal ones.

Swede research
The Film Industry: Production, Distribution, Marketing, Exhibition.
So production (which is chronologically first in this sequence) falls into three separate categories, pre production, production and post production. Pre production entails the writing of the script, calling the actors making props and basically everything that has to happen before the actual shooting can take place. I was going to say that this is probably the most important part, but without any of these you wouldn't have a film so screw that.
The actual production is just the filming part. A lot of shots taken won't be used in the final film, because the editing team (coming soon) has to keep the film down to a certain length. This is what directors cuts are, the full version of the film, and some films release them on dvd.
Post production is all of the editing that happens to make the film screen-ready. It can be the most time consuming part, as editors have to watch hours upon hours of footage to choose the perfect shots, and then add any special effects if they are needed.
The next step is the distribution, once you have a film that you are happy with, you need to find someone who is willing to put it out there under there name. These are companies like Disney, Sony, Paramount and Universal. Some companies, like Disney pay people working under them to make films, so the distribution isn't a problem as as soon as it is finished it will be distributed, although it can take a lot of work for independent film makers to get out there.
The penultimate step in the film making business is marketing, which is basically advertising. You can do this through media such as trailers or adverts, and get them plastered on billboards and the sides of buses. It can be promoted through merchandise, for example a disney or super hero film could have a lot of toys, and also character interviews to get the cast out there. Advertising is important because, without it, nobody apart from hardcore fanatics would be able to find out about new films and it would probably be a tiny industry.
Audiences can get to see the films in a home cinema, the cinema or either at home on DVD's. There are different ways in which we engage in films today for instance; sex appeal (example, Megan fox or Channing Tatum), famous singers (Rihanna in battlefield) etc.
The Film Value Chain
the film value chain is when businesses receive raw materials as input, and add a value to the raw materials through various processes, and sell finished products to customers.
